Downhill Skiing

Yes, mountains! This is not your typical Midwest ski hill. You don't just go up and down the same side of one hill all day. Whitecap, Thunderhead and Eagles Nest mountains make up The Whitecap Mountains Ski Resort. They're part of the ancient Penokee Range.

Spread over these sprawling mountains you will discover 43 fun ski trails. It's true that some resorts may boast a higher vertical. Yet when you ski a Whitecap double diamond trail, you are challenged from top to bottom. Expert skiers are even impressed with the quality of our easier terrain. They compliment our intermediate runs as being "more interesting" and "more fun" than at your typical Midwestern ski areas.

Many people feel that before heading west to ski the Rockies The Whitecap Mountains are the only place in the Midwest where you can really train yourself well. With the long lines at airport security and expensive airline prices, our affordable packages make skiing or snow-boarding Whitecap Mountains a real bargain!

With 43 downhill runs, we have plenty of skiing for everybody at every skill level. And all skiers report that they like how we separate the area for beginners from the main ski traffic.

There are also more chairlifts per skier! There are no long lines. You don't have to stand around waiting to reach the top of any of our mountains. You spend more time having fun doing what you came to do...SKI!

Whitecap Lodge offers you rooms and suites, many with kitchens and all with Wi-Fi access. You will also find a swimming pool and huge hot tub to relax after an exciting day on the slopes. Maybe you'd like to be more romantic? Rent a mountain chalet or condo - most include a fireplace - for your winter vacation.
Davos Chalet can headquarter groups up to 40 people. You will find an abundance of ski-in, ski-out lodging at The Whitecap Mountains and it is just minutes away from Hurley's famous Silver Street for lively nightlife and fine dining.
