Iron County Pursuit

January 8 & 9, 2011 

SEEDING ~ Self seeding on registration. Seeding deadline will be announced at a later date.

PURSUIT FORMAT ~ This is a true pursuit event designed to use both striding and skating techniques. There are interval starts on Saturday with two every 30 seconds. On Sunday you will start based on how you finished on Saturday. A separate starting order will be posted and you get a new number on Sunday. Saturday's classic format will be about 9 km and Sunday's skate format is approximately 14 km.

ONE DAY RACE ~ You ARE allowed to race only one day. However, you will not receive a pursuit time.

TROPHY ~ Overall trophy for men's & women's divisions.

COLD WEATHER POLICY ~ Minus 4 degrees or colder, we will delay the race ONE hour. If it is still -4 the race will be canceled. No refunds will be given, but you will get to keep your Kromer hat.


REGISTRATION/PACKET PICKUP
Early Registration Deadline will be determined at a later date.

Registration trailer will be open at 8 a.m. race day.
Please come early to avoid the line & insure you start on time.

STARTING TIMES
Sat., January 8th- 11 AM ~ Sun., January 9th - 10 AM
Waves start at 10:30

RACE SITE DIRECTIONS
Saturday - Montreal: 3 miles west of Hurley on Hwy. 77 to Montreal. Parking on both sides of the highway.

Sunday - Mercer: From Hwy. 51 in Mercer, turn west onto Beachway Drive (near Great Northern Motel) at the south end of town. Follow the signs to the MECCA trail head.
Post Race Events

Sunday - Head over to the Mercer Community Center after the race for a post race reception. The Hurley Lions Club will have food, beverages. The race committee will hold a drawing for door prizes. Race results and awards ceremony starting when results are completed, approximately 1:00-1:30 PM.

RACE ETIQUETTE
The track rule applies during this race. If you want to pass someone, yell "track" to the person in front of you. When you hear someone yelling "track", you need to move off to the side to allow them to ski by you.
Please be considerate to fellow racers.

Age Categories

Men's and women's division both:

15 and under; 16-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+
